Pastor Mecedez Antonio Ortiz
Housing and Economic situation: Antonio and Maria Salome live in a two room wood slat house with a dirt floor with their children and some grandchildren. Neither their home nor their church have electricity and the water comes from a small well. The supplement the less than $40.00 a month that they receive from the church by raising a few pigs and chickens and planting some corn.

Pastor Mercedez has pastored his church in Los Panamaces, Boaco, Nicaragua for more than 10 years. In this extremely rural setting (one has to walk or ride horseback for a 30-45 minute walk to his house from the nearest road which is only safe to drive on with a 4x4 vehicle), their church has no electricity, and the congregation is deeply below the poverty line. Pastor Mercedez' prayer request for his congregation is that they would grow deeper in their faith and in their commitment to the Lord. Personally, he asks for prayer to not lose heart as the work is difficult and there is little opportunity for fellowship with other pastors and Christian leaders.
