Pastor Luis is a church planter and discipler of new believers. His latest church plant is in the village of Santa Elena, outside of Managua. The growth they see in their church is enhanced by the cell group ministry where new believers are trained and groups grow and divide.
- became a Christian 28 years ago
- had served as assistant to the local priest teaching Bible Classes.
- as he studied the Bible his teaching changed and he was accused of becoming an evangelical.
- researching why he had been called that, he attended an evangelistic meeting at a local Baptist Church and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.
- three months later he was baptized and four months after that, he was preaching alongside the pastor.
- attended a Bible Institute until civil war broke out and the Institute was closed, the books were burned, and the teachers were not allowed to teach.
- became pastor of two churches during that time because the pastors had been taken away.
- was detained by the Sandinistas frequently and suffered great persecution at their hands for preaching the Gospel.
- persevered and planted two churches and is currently planting a third one.

Family:
Pastor Luis and his wife, Irene, have seven children, six of whom work with them in the church plants. In the past 2 years, their youngest daughter died suddenly at the age of 12, Luis' younger brother was killed and another brother was seriously wounded and lost his left eye, and his father's land was swindled away from the family, and his wife and oldest daughter have had serious health needs.
