- Was discipled in the faith by the pastor and leaders in the church and then served as a deacon for many years before receiving a call to be a minister 7 years ago
- His life was completely changed and he as grown in his faith through many trials and testings
- In his ministry, he especially enjoys evangelism and working at discipling the youth and preparing them for baptism. They also have home groups where they encourage the spiritual growth of the members.
- In the area of their ministry, they have also planted two mission stations where they travel regularly to encourage the believers in those villages 9 and 11 kilometers from their town of San Juan del Rio.
- His wife serves alongside of him in the ministry and is an excellent co-laborer in their work of evangelism, training, prayer, and visitation.
- Their library consists of a couple of books but they would love to have a Study Bible and a concordance.

Pastor Matey's oldest son works and goes to university in order to help support the needs of the family. They live in a home provided by the church which is very basic - with a roof and electricity but no floor or windows or connected water supply. They have no vehicles so they travel by foot to their mission stations.
