Nicaragua Flooding Disaster

For two long weeks in October, Nicaragua and other Central American countries suffered under torrential rains that caused flooding, land slides, washed out roads, and that destroyed crops and homes and towns.  Pastor Mario Espinoza called and asked for emergency assistance for the pastors in the West Central areas where the flooding did the most damage.  He has asked for $6000 for immediate emergency food donations and roofing materials.  We have been able to send $2000 thus far and are sending more down as it arrives.  If you would like to donate now, go to our Donate now page and click on the Donate button

Adopt-a-Pastor Program

Nicaragua has been hit by tragedy after tragedy in the past 30 years.  Hurricanes, tornadoes, civil war, and earthquakes have demolished what used to be a thriving Central American country.  Rural areas often suffer from 60% - 70% unemployment.  Pastors try to support their families on the painfully small tithes that come in from church members who are fighting just to keep their own children fed.  Many have left the pastorate to travel to other countries looking for work that will sustain them and their households.

But they don't have to. God has provided us with the means to help those in need and we take Proverbs 21:13 seriously. I John 3:17 reminds us that if we see a brother in need and have the means to help him but we don't, how can the love of the Father be in us?

Started more than 8 years ago, AAP has showered great blessings from generous sponsors to these dear brothers and sisters. You, your family, small group, or church, can sponsor a pastor partially with a commitment of $25 or $50 a month, or fully with $75 a month. You'll get a picture of your pastor's family, prayer requests, and a letter every year telling about their work. Pastors are visited regularly and RBW helps with on-going theological education and other training.

Pastor's Retreat 2010

Thirty pastors (and 28 spouses) from the Adopt-A-Pastor program gathered at a

retreat center in San Marcos, Nicaragua in November of 2010.  It was a time of fellowship, encouragement, teaching, training, prayer, good food, and relaxation.  80% of these couples had never been away from home together for anything, especially not for a retreat.  Rev. Jose Rivera held a marriage and family seminar, Rev. Samuel Rodriguez brought the messages to embolden and hold on to the faith.  And Dr. Steve Anderson held sessions on the book of Philippians.  Mrs Nora Rivera gave the ladies special attenction by teaching on being women of God and also giving examples of various crafts they could make from their homes to encourage the women in their churches or to sell to sup

plement the pastor's wages.
