With the severely depressed economy of Nicaragua many pastors are having great difficulty in providing for their families because their congregations suffer from 50-70% unemployment. Many remain faithful to serving the Lord at the cost of nutritious food and schooling for their children. Many live in homes that are made of scrap materials or end lumber pieces, or they rent homes that can be taken away at any point should they be unable to pay the rent. Some pastors have made the difficult decision to leave the ministry in order to find work in the city or in other countries.
With sponsorship of only $50.00 a month, these pastors can continue their ministries and put food on the table and keep some of their children in school, or it can help them start a home business that will eventually provide for their family's needs.
Each sponsor will receive a picture of their pastor and his family, a prayer reminder card with suggestions of how to pray, and 12 monthly remittance cards with envelopes. They will also receive 2-4 letters a year from their sponsored pastor keeping them up-to-date on their ministry and how the Lord is using them in Nicaragua, and with specific prayer requests. Each adopted pastor receives every penny of your donation on a quarterly basis, nothing is kept back for administrative costs.
